Sterling’s Own Tyus Wilson Selected as Big Ten Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Year

Tyus Wilson, a senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, was selected Big Ten Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Year on Wednesday by the conference head coaches.

According to Husker Athletics, Wilson (Sterling, Kan.,) is the first Husker men’s indoor national champion since 2009, having cleared an indoor personal record of 2.28m (7-5 ¾), which is also the third-highest mark in the school’s history.

Wilson is a four-time USTFCCCA First Team All-American, three-time Big Ten Champion and now a two-time conference field athlete of the year. 

Nebraska track and field sent 12 athletes to the NCAA Indoor Championships this year. The Huskers haven’t had this many athletes qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships since 2010, where they had sent 14 athletes.
