WICHITA, Kan. (SCWarriors.com) – The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) and Commissioner Ted Breidenthal are pleased to announce the Game One “Game Changers of the Month” for the month of December.

The Game Changer of the Month recognition celebrates and highlights KCAC student-athletes and staff members in a wide variety of categories and is intended for those who fit the definition of a “Game Changer” in the eye of the athletic department and institution. Any KCAC student-athlete or staff member who fits their definition of a Game Changer is eligible to be nominated by an athletic staff member from any KCAC member institution.  KCAC athletic staff are encouraged to identify and nominate Game Changers for consideration who are then reviewed and selected through a voting process. These individuals embody the spirit of the KCAC and have separated themselves by making a distinct and noticeable difference and impact on their campus, in the KCAC and beyond.   This award celebrates individuals in the KCAC, in our athletic departments, and on our campuses for their impact.  As described, this recognition is not restricted to statistics and objective measures.

Four standouts were selected as the KCAC and Game One Game Changers of the Month for the month of December. Award winners include: John Harding, Sterling College head volleyball coach; Kendall Locke, Bethel College women’s basketball student-athlete; Brock Chapman, Ottawa University game day operations graduate assistant; and Emily McElroy, Southwestern College graduate assistant for sports information and athletic operations.

Harding was nominated by K.C. Bassett, Women’s Basketball head coach, Associate Athletic Director, and Senior Woman Leader for Sterling College Athletics

In the last year, in addition to his duties as a head coach, Harding has been implementing several department-wide initiatives, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Implementing the Patrick Lencioni Working Genius model throughout the Sterling College Athletic Leadership team and then with the department’s Head Coaches.
  • Starting a Friday morning Bible Study for Sterling coaches.

“John is a true example of a servant leader,” Bassett said. “He is working hard to bring our Athletic Department together in many ways. His innovative ideas and willingness to step outside the box is helping drive us to do and be better.”

Harding will be recognized and celebrated for this award at halftime of the Sterling College women’s basketball game on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
