WICHITA, Kan. (SCWarriors.com) — Korynn Clason of Sterling College and LaMyah Ricks of Kansas Wesleyan University have earned the KCAC Women’s Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The two student-athletes were selected for their performances from Dec. 9-15 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Equity Bank.
Offensive Player of the Week
Korynn Clason – Sterling College

Clason had another excellent week for the Warriors. Her 31-point performance came in an OT loss to Bethel. Her 28th point of the night was a big three-pointer in the final minute of the game to make it a one possession game. It was also her 1500th career point as a Warrior. She currently leads the KCAC in total scoring and scoring average, and is currently 5th nationally in total scoring (261 total points) and 7th nationally in scoring average (21.8 ppg). This marks the second time this season Clason has earned the KCAC Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week honor.

Defensive Player of the Week
LaMyah Ricks – Kansas Wesleyan University

Ricks starred again defensively for the Coyotes, with an outstanding defensive in two games, helping KWU stay unbeaten in KCAC play. On Saturday, Ricks guarded Alanis Delgado from Saint Mary, and forced her into 4 of 17 shooting from the field, turning her into a high-volume shooter. She was also solid on defense in the York game as KWU held the Panthers to 65 points. She was instrumental in keeping York’s guards’ scoring chances limited and helping force 13 turnovers that yielded 19 points for the Coyotes. This marks the third consecutive week in which Ricks has earned an KCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor (one on offfense, two on defense).
