WICHITA, Kan. (KCACSports.com) – Mooch Austin of Sterling College and Devin Spencer of Bethany College have earned the KCAC Men’s Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The two student-athletes were selected for their performances from Feb. 17-23 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Equity Bank.
Offensive Player of the Week
Mooch Austin – Sterling College

Austin had another impressive week for the Warriors, amassing a total of 41 points, nine assists, 12 rebounds, and two blocks against two quality KCAC teams. In the win against McPherson, Austin carried his team, leading all scorers with 24 points while shooting 58% from the field. He also dished out five assists and maintained control of the ball with only one turnover in the game. In the match up against Evangel, he continued to be an offensive leader for the team scoring 17 points, dishing out four assists and grabbing seven rebounds.

Defensive Player of the Week
Devin Spencer – Bethany College

Spencer capped off his incredible season with seven steals against the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes and six steals against the Friends University Falcons. He now leads the entire NAIA with 96 steals, most of which he ripped from his opponents. The second place steals leader in the NAIA, Oklahoma Wesleyan’s Derrick Talton Jr., sits at 80. Spencer outpaced eight of the thirteen KCAC teams in steals this week with 13. He was key in forcing the Coyotes and Falcons to a combined 37 turnovers; 20 of them against the Falcons. This is the second time this season Spencer has been named the KCAC Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.
