McPHERSON, Kan. – The McPherson College Bulldogs got back into the win column Saturday (Mar. 25), sweeping Saint Mary 6-2 and 5-0 at Bulldog Park.

The Bulldogs benefited from a trio of errors by the Spires in the fifth inning to score four runs, breaking a 1-1 gridlock. Kaitlyn Sarsfield capped the inning with an RBI single to left field.

Amber Wood closed out the scoring for the Bulldogs with an RBI single to right field, bringing Kassidy New around to score.

Raegan Kleppe got the start in the circle for the Bulldogs and picked up her fourth win of the season.

The Bulldogs had no shortage of baserunners in the nightcap but stranded six through the first four innings.

Jordyn Johnson pitched a gem holding the Spires hitless through four innings. She finished with four strikeouts while allowing just three hits in seven scoreless innings.

New gave the Bulldogs the lead with a single down the left-field line, bringing Tatyana Alvarado around to score. Then, an RBI double by Mackenzie Egan scored New and Lauren Skinner. Egan and pinch-runner Amanda Ambrosy would score on a double by Wood.

Skinner finished 3-for-4 at the plate in game two to lead the Bulldogs, while New, Wood, and Keelee Kemp each had two hits.

The Bulldogs hit the road on Wednesday (Mar. 29) for a doubleheader against Sterling College.
