SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (MacBulldogs.com) — The Evangel University Valor swept the doubleheader Saturday (Apr. 13) against the McPherson College Bulldogs at University Field in Springfield, Mo. With the losses, the Bulldogs have now dropped six consecutive games.
GAME ONE – Evangel 17, McPherson 0 (5 innings)
The Valor scored early and often in the opener, plating 12 runs in the first inning, three more in the second and two in the third. MC was held hitless for the second time this season.
GAME TWO – Evangel 2, McPherson 1
MC grabbed a 1-0 lead after the first half inning, however the Bulldogs offensive woes continued. Karissa Hernandez led off the game with a double to left center, but from there the Bulldogs were held hitless the rest of the way. Hernandez scored on a fielding error by the Valor second baseman.
The Valor knotted the score in the bottom of the first, then an RBI single by Annslee Leeviraphan pushed Evangel past the Bulldogs.
Samantha Hollingsworth threw six innings, allowing just three hits and two runs while striking out four batters.
The Bulldogs remain on the road Wednesday (Apr. 17), traveling to Lindsborg, Kan. to take on Bethany College. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m.
