STERLING, Kan. (SCWarriors.com) – The Warriors faced off with the York Panthers at 1 pm. The Warriors’ record is 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference play. Both teams kept their starting goalie in for the whole 90 minutes. Dixie Morgan for Sterling and Harumi Cornejo for York.
During the first period, the Warriors took three shots, zero corner kicks, and seven saves. With an aggressive first period, both teams were held scoreless until the last 4 minutes when the Panthers made the game-winning, and only, goal of the afternoon. Gracie Reynolds made the goal and was assisted by Cleo Paris her 4th goal of the season.
The second period started, and Sterling was ready to play a hard defensive game against York. Immediately the Panthers came out shooting aggressively at the net looking for another opportunity to score. With the Warriors’ fighting attitude, they took away any possible chance of the Panthers scoring again on Morgan. The game ended with a 1-0 final score.
Morgan had a save percentage of 90.9% as she saved ten balls in the match. As a team, the Warriors had 4 saves on shot attempts bringing a total of 13 saves to the afternoon.
Next, the Warriors go against Avila at home at 2:00 pm on Friday afternoon. It will be Sterling’s Homecoming game.
