LINDSBORG, Kan. (SCWarriors.com) – Sterling College had a tough 76-67 road loss to Bethany College, Wednesday, Jan. 15. The Warriors were also playing shorthanded as Jayden Garrison and Jaivion Reed were out with injury.

To add insult to injury, Sterling found themselves in early foul trouble with three Warriors picking up two fouls in the first half, Julian SmithDamond Daniels and Tanez Brown.

Sterling was able to hang in there and played a very back and forth game before the Swedes were able to pull away slightly and hold onto a 35-31 lead going into halftime.

The Warriors did not go quietly into the night, fighting there way back into the game and taking a 38-37 lead early in the second half. However, the Swedes went on an 11-2 run that despite Sterling’s best efforts they were unable to overcome.

Elias Ngoga led the Warriors in scoring, rebounding and blocks with 14, eight and three, respectively. Mooch Austin and Daniels led Sterling in assists with three a piece. Austin also contributed four steals and 12 points to the mix.

Monem Abboud and Julian Smith both chipped in 11 points.

The Warriors’ (5-6, 10-7) next game will be Saturday, Jan. 18 against Southwestern College (6-5, 13-5) on Kruse Court.
