WICHITA, Kan. (GoShockers.com) – Wichita State softball’s duo of CC Wong and Addison Barnard capped their playing careers by earning All-America honors this week.

Wong becomes the fourth Shocker in program history to earn All-America status, joining Barnard, Sydney McKinney and Lauren Lucas. The British Columbia native was a First Team selection by Softball America and Second Team honoree by both the NFCA and D1 Softball. Softball America also named Wong the Most Improved Player of the Year. Wong hit .288 with just 19 total hits and zero home runs in 2023 at Grand Canyon, but went out with a bang in her lone season at Wichita State. All she did was earn American Player of the Year honors behind a .470 average, 14 doubles, 14 home runs and 50 RBIs. Her batting average ranked second nationally, while her on base percentage of .579 was third best in the nation. That .579 on base percentage broke the single season school record previously set by McKinney.

Barnard’s record breaking career concluded with another All-American campaign. The Beatrice, Neb., native joins McKinney as the only Shockers to hold the distinction of three-time All-American. The NFCA and Softball America both tabbed Barnard as a Second Team All-American. She became the first player in NCAA history to hit 90+ home runs and steal 60+ bases in a career. Her 93 career home runs are fifth most in NCAA history. Behind a senior campaign of 24 home runs, she holds the top three spots on the Wichita State single season home run list and is the first Shocker to have three seasons of 20 or more homers. As a senior, Barnard hit a career-high .397 with 12 doubles, 24 home runs and 48 RBIs. Her .973 slugging percentage ranked third nationally and was the second best in school history behind only her sophomore season of 1.018.
