McPHERSON, Kan. – The McPherson College basketball doubleheader against Evangel on Jan. 4 will be played two hours earlier than originally scheduled due to the ongoing threat of winter weather over the weekend.

The women’s game will now tip off at 10 a.m. at Holman Fieldhouse. The men’s game will tip off 20 minutes following the conclusion of the women’s game at approximately 12 p.m. The games will still broadcast on 98.9/1540 KMCP as pregame coverage will now begin at 9:45 a.m.

As of 11 a.m. Friday, McPherson County is under a Winter Storm Watch from 9 a.m. Saturday until 6 p.m. Sunday. According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, there is a chance of freezing rain and snow along with gusty wins Saturday and Sunday, likely causing roads to become slick and hazardous.

The McPherson College women’s team is looking for their first win of the season as they currently sit 0-13 on the year and 0-7 in KCAC play. Saturday will be their first game action since losing to Friends 83-52 on the road on Dec. 14, 2024.

The men’s team is 4-9 on the year and 2-5 in KCAC play, but they have won their last two conference games against Bethany 77-72 and Friends 77-69. Most recently, they went 0-2 in the St. Francis Classic in Joliet, Ill., losing to St. Xavier 119-108 on Dec. 30 and St. Francis 69-58 on Dec. 31.
