Girls golf – With just four players on the roster, the Hutchinson High girls golf team still qualified for the Class 5A state tournament in Emporia, and the Salthawks came in 10th place.
Senior Ava Burlie qualified for the final round, and she came in 26th place with a two-round total of 179, just five strokes from the top 20.
Lily Rodriguez just missed the cut by shooting a 100. Lydia Patterson shot a 109, and Brynn Hall had a 110.
Girls tennis – The doubles team of Ellie Foos and Ayla Booe went 1-2 at the Class 5A state tournament in Andover.
The duo opened the tournament with a 6-2, 6-4 win but dropped its next two sets.
Foos and Booe finished the season with a 22-13 record.
Volleyball – The Salthawks will be seeded 13 at the Class 5A West substate. They will head to Andover Central to take on the No. 4 Jaguars at 1 p.m. The winner advances to the 3 p.m. championship match.
The other match will feature No. 5 Kapaun Mount Carmel vs. No. 12 Salina South.
Boys soccer – The Salthawks tied McPherson last Thursday 1-1 and fell 2-1 in a thrilling game Tuesday to Salina South.
The Salthawks are now 10-3-2 headed to Thursday’s regular-season finale vs. Campus. The Salthawks need to win to have a shot at fourth place in the 5A West Region. The top four teams have homefield advantage in regionals.
Cross country – The Salthawks competed at the AVCTL Division 1 meet on Saturday at Clapp Park in Wichita.
Ethan Holmes led the boys team with a 28th-place finish in a time of 18 minutes, 14.1 seconds.
Sophomore Avery Tecklenburg led the girls team with 22nd-place finish in a time of 21:44.6.
