Boys soccer – The Salthawks continued their strong play, beating Reno County rival Buhler 3-0 on Monday and 24 hours later, handed Valley Center its first loss of the season, 3-2.
Sophomore Griff Galyon scored three goals in the two games, including a first-half brace against Valley Center. Senior Cole Bleything also scored in each game, opening the scoring in each game.
Hutchinson is now 7-1-1 headed to Thursday’s game at Arkansas City.
Girls golf – Ava Burlie led the Salthawks at their home invitational on Thursday at Carey Park Golf Course, as the senior shot an 85 and finished in a tie for 19th.
The Salthawks enjoyed a top-10 team finish, coming in ninth in the 20-team field, shooting a 390.
Senior Lily Rodriguez also broke 100, carding a 96.
Girls tennis – The Salthawks fared well at the Eisenhower Invitational on Monday at Goddard, finishing fourth in the team standings.
The No. 1 doubles team of seniors Ayla Booe and Ellie Foos won their division, while the No. 2 doubles team of seniors Addie Lewis and Payzlee Regier came in second.
In singles, sophomore Maggie Kaplan finished sixth in No. 2 singles, while senior Rylee Miller was seventh in No. 1 singles.
Volleyball – The Salthawks dropped a pair of matches on Tuesday at Derby.
Hutchinson first lost a tight match to Derby, 22-25, 25-13, 25-19. The Salthawks ended the day with a 25-22, 25-18 loss to Valley Center.
The Salthawks are now 9-10 headed to Saturday’s tournament in Great Bend.
Cross country – The Salthawks competed at the annual meet at Rim Rock Farm near Lawrence, one of the biggest meets of the year.
On the girls side, Avery Tecklenburg finished in a time of 23:19.2, finishing 116th in the 212-runner field.
In the boys division, Lalo Rodriguez led the Salthawks in a time of 19:47.0
