HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Hutchinson High girls soccer team won a thriller Tuesday at the Salthawk Sports Complex, nudging past Goddard 3-2, continuing the Salthawks’ trend of alternating losses and wins.

Ryhan Galyon continued her strong freshman campaign with another goal, senior Libby Jackson blasted a free kick into the upper corner of the goal, and junior Lisa Selgrade added a goal from a junior Sophie Gantz assist.

“We possessed the ball really well in the first half and got lots of chances in behind (the Goddard defense),” Salthawk coach Jordan Downing said.

Samara Jimenez had a number of second-half saves, with the wind in her face, and Downing added that senior Brynne Ackley played strong defense, stopping a number of Goddard shots.

The Salthawks are back at home Thursday to take on Class 5A power Valley Center.
