Salthawk girls nab first win, paving way for basketball sweep at Buhler

Kaia Smith scored a game-high 18 points, and Grace Posch added 10, and the Hutchinson High girls basketball team kept Buhler at arm’s length Friday at Jim Baker Fieldhouse, as Hutchinson picked up its second win of the young season by beating Buhler 43-33.

The Salthawks outscored Buhler in each of the four quarters, but never by more than five points.

Free throws were a difference, as Hutchinson hit 10 of 14 compared to 3 of 10 for Buhler.

Hutchinson boys 59, Buhler 43 – The Salthawks raced to a double-digit lead in the first half and then cruised to their first win of the season.

Lamar Govain came off the bench and led the Salthawks with 15 points. Terrell King added 13 points, while Tremell Walker scored 10 points.

Mitchel McDaniel led Buhler with 10 points.
