STERLING, Kan. (SCWarriors.com) – Sterling College Athletics and Vice President for Athletics, Scott Downing, announced today that Nicole Salazar will be the next Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach at Sterling College.
“We are very excited to add Coach Salazar to our coaching staff,” said Justin Morris, Director of Athletics. “Coach Salazar is no stranger to our tennis program here at Sterling and we are truly fortunate to be able to fill this position so quickly. She has already hit the ground running and we are excited to get our student-athletes back from break and get the season started.”
Salazar returns to her alma mater after competing for four years on the Women’s Tennis team from 2018-2022. She graduated from Sterling College with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and Photography. Since her time at Sterling, Salazar has been a Tennis Pro, and Event and Tournament Coordinator at a private sports club in Irving, Texas.
“First I want to thank both Scott Downing and Justin Morris for the chance to come back to my alma-mater and coach the sport that I love,” said Salazar. “This opportunity feels like a full-circle moment for me, and I am filled with gratitude as I return to a place that had such a profound impact on my own journey-both as a student and an athlete. I look forward to working with a talented group of student-athletes, helping them grow and reach their full potential on and off the court. It’s an honor to give back to a community that shaped me into the woman I am today.”
