HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Trinity Catholic boys got off to a strong start Friday, leading Salina Sacred Heart at halftime, but behind Mike Matteucci’s 15 points, the Knights came back and posted a 51-30 win.
The Celtics’ good first half was aided by the sharpshooting from freshman Drew Dechant, who hit three 3-pointers early and finished with 12 points.
The Celtics fall to 4-10 and have lost nine of their last 11.
Sacred Heart girls 51, Trinity Catholic 32 – The Celtics had a shorter bench due to injuries, and foul trouble didn’t help their cause as Sacred Heart pulled away in the second half.
Avery Eshleman scored 13 points for Sacred Heart, while Katie Weiss hit a couple big 3-pointers in the second half.
The Celtics started bright, leading by two at the end of the first quarter before the lack of numbers caught up.
Mattie Galliher led the Celtics with 10 points.
