HUTCHINSON, Kan. – On the power of the NJCAA’s longest field goal made this season, Hutchinson Community College redshirt freshman kicker Nestus Burger was named the NJCAA Division Special Teams Player of the Week.

Burger’s school-record 50-yard field goal came late in the second quarter and capped a 26-point period for the No. 1-ranked Blue Dragons in a 46-10 win over No. 11 Dodge City on Saturday at Gowans Stadium. The attempt was Burger’s first field goal try of the season after serving as the kickoff specialist for the Dragons.

Burger’s 50-yarder surpassed the old record of 48 by Sebastian Garcia in 2018.

The redshirt freshman from Perth, Australia had nine kickoffs on Saturday, three going for touchbacks. His directional kicking kept the average Dodge City starting field position at its own 22 yard line.

Burger is the fourth Blue Dragon to earn NJCAA National weekly honors, the third as the Special Teams Player of the Week.
