SALINA, Kan. – The McPherson High School Boys & Girls Wrestling teams finished the 2024-25 season at the State Championships in Salina Feb. 28 – March 1, finishing with their first ever KSHSAA Girls State Wrestling Champion in school history.
GIRLS
Sr. Ciara Rawson became the first Bullpup in Girls Wrestling history to finish as a KSHSAA State Champion, winning all four of her bouts via fall. All four of those victories via fall ended within two minutes, the longest of which being in the 235 State Championship match, which ended in 1:58.
The team finished in 14th out of 54 schools in the first ever exclusively 4A State Championships in Kansas. The team finished with 47 total points, just 7.5 outside of finishing in the top 10. Tonganoxie won the team title with 104.0 points. Fort Scott finished second with 87.0 points.

The Bullpup Boys took the trip to State with just three wrestlers, all of which in the unenviable task of going up against some of the state’s best. All three wrestlers fell against Top 3 finishers in their respective weight classes, including Jase Fitzmorris’ first loss of the meet against the undefeated state champion.
The team finished with 5.0 points, putting them in 40th out of 56 schools. The top 10 finishers ended with at least 56.0 points with four of the top six teams entering with at least 10 wrestlers. Rose Hill finished as the team champions, finishing with 215.5 points with 12 wrestlers. Paola finished 2nd with 11 wrestlers, ending with 142.5 points.
