PRATT, Kan. – In the second to last doubleheader of the regular season, the Smoky Valley Vikings hit the road on Friday night to face the Pratt Greenbacks. Pratt got the sweep on their Senior Night, winning the girls game by five and running away for a big win on the boys side.
Girls-Pratt 44, Smoky Valley 39 – Pratt jumped out to a 10-3 lead, but the Vikings went on an 8-0 run to take an 11-10 lead after the first quarter. However, a 17-5 second quarter put the Greenbacks up double digits at halftime. Smoky Valley battled back within seven by the end of the third quarter and at one point cut it to three at 36-33 in the fourth. Pratt was able to close it out down the stretch for a five-point win. Hope Hughes was the leader for the Greenbacks as she finished with 24 points, including 19 in the first half and 11 in the second quarter. She made four three-pointers on the night. Quinn Thibault scored 10 for Pratt. Only three players were in the scorebook for Smoky Valley, but they were all in double figures. Kat Blanchat crossed double digits for the 17th time in 19 games, leading the Vikings with 16. Elsie Boughfman added 13 and Kenzley Haxton scored 10. With the win, Pratt is now 11-8 and 4-3 in the Central Kansas League, while Smoky Valley fell to 6-13 and 1-6.

Boys-Pratt 66, Smoky Valley 25 – The Greenbacks were hot from the start, jumping out to a 10-0 lead and never looking back. A three-pointer from Ty Heitschmidt stopped the opening run, but another 10-0 stretch put Pratt up 20-3 early in the second quarter. The Greenbacks led 38-12 at halftime and with a running clock by the fourth quarter closed with a 41-point win. Arley Morrell paced the Greenbacks with 18 points including four highlight reel dunks. Owen Schmidt added 12 and Landon Demuth scored 10 for Pratt, which improved to 14-5 and 4-3 in the CKL. Heitschmidt was the only double figure scorer for Smoky Valley, finishing with 13 points.
