No. 24 McPherson Volleyball Continues To Roll With Sweep Of Southwestern

WINFIELD, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) — The win streak has been extended to seven as the Bulldogs went on the road and took care of business, securing a sweep victory on Monday (Oct 14) over Southwestern College.

After getting out to a 9-7 lead, the Bulldogs took full command of the first set by scoring the next six rally points to push the lead out to 15-7 and force Southwestern to call a timeout. McPherson rolled with the monument to secure a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-14 win in set one.

A similar story was told in set two as with a 7-5 lead, MC scored six straight rally points to extend the lead to 13-6 and once again take command. The Moundbuilders made several attempts to chip away at the deficit but the Bulldogs snuffed them out and won the set, 25-15.

The Bulldogs did not need to go on any runs in set three as they took control early and never looked back, generating an 18-9 lead to force Southwestern to call a timeout in an attempt to slow down MC. The Moundbuilders were able to on a late run to keep the visitors on their toes, but the Bulldogs secured the sweep with a 25-19 win in set three.

Luisina Sandron and Hadley Waldren both broke double-digit kills with 13 and 10 respectively. Raegan Murphy and Katelyn Brogan both recorded 17 assists and Celestina Retumban matched that number with 17 digs.

The Bulldogs have a quick turnaround as they return to action on Wednesday for another road matchup against Bethany College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
