ENID, Okla. – The No. 16-ranked Hutchinson Community College women’s soccer team completed a weekend trip to Oklahoma with a second-straight shutout on Sunday against NOC-Enid.
While it wasn’t the scoring explosion of Saturday, the Blue Dragons dominated possession and defeated the Jets 3-0 in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
The Blue Dragons improve to 5-0-1. They will return to KJCCC play on Wednesday, playing host to No. 11 Butler in a Top 20 national matchup in a 6 p.m. kickoff at the Salthawk Sports Complex.
Hutchinson out-shot 12-2, putting 10 shots on goal.
Katharina Marx, Maren Lackey and Kaitlyn Edwards all scored goals for the Blue Dragons.
Marx scored her first game-winning goal with 6:28 to play in the second half, scoring on a Tatiana Mayumi assist for a 1-0 lead. Marx scored her fifth goal of the season and scored a goal in her third-consecutive game.
With 33 seconds left in the first half, Lackey scored her first goal of the season from a Marx assist for a 2-0 lead. That was Lackeys’ third career goal.
The Blue Dragons made it 3-0 with 6:46 to play in the second half when Edwards scored on an Emma Hoffman assist. The goal was Edwards’ seventh of the season and she has scored a goal in four-straight games.
Freshman goalkeeper Karsyn Slothower posted her fifth shutout of the season, making one save against the Jets.
