Neosho Men’s Basketball Suffers Excruciating Loss to Fort Scott

CHANUTE, Kan. (GoNeosho.com) – The Neosho County Men’s basketball team lost a home conference game in overtime to Fort Scott Community College 71-70 on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers trailed by as many as 17 points in the second half before coming back to take a 64-62 lead with less than a minute to play.  The score at the end of regulation play was 65-65.

The leading scorer in the game for Neosho County was sophomore Damian Jones with 19 points.  Other Panther’s scoring in double figures were freshman Adyn Prophete with 14 point and freshman Justin Van Rooijen with 11 points.  Freshman Champ Powaukee added 9 points.  Adyn Prophete had 10 rebounds to lead Neosho County on the glass.  Justin Van Rooijen added 7 rebounds, and Champ Powaukee and Damian Jones each contributed 6 rebounds. Leading the way with 2 assists in the game for the Panthers were redshirt sophomore Michael Doria, Jones, and Van Rooijen.

Neosho County is now 9-10 on the season and 2-3 in conference play.  The Panthers resume play on Wednesday with a conference road game at Hesston College at 7:30 PM.
