MOUNDRIDGE, Kan. – Moundridge High School’s Scholars Bowl team took part in the 2A State Scholars Bowl championships Saturday, Feb. 15, winning the state title at their home school.
The day went perfect for Moundridge, finishing pool play 5-0 and finishing 5-0 in the Championship Pool as well, to end the day 10-0. Their closest bout in the round robin portion of pool play came against Mission Valley, winning by a margin of 20 points. Their total margin in the five matches in pool play was 205.
The Championship Pool ended up at a much closer mark with a total margin of 100 (20 per matchup), but the team came out on top to win the title. The title is the second in the program’s history. Sacred Heart, who was the three-time defending champion, placed in 2nd while Thomas More Prep-Marian finished 3rd.
