CHICKASHA, Okla. (CCCTigers.com) – In a game where the score did not indicate the play, the Tigers came home frustrated after a well-played SAC battle with University of Science and Arts, in a 5-0 loss on the road, on the Drovers senior night.
In as entertaining of a half of soccer you’ll see all season, the Tigers came out aggressively with 3 shots at goal, with a shot high by Grant Adams, Drew Schrader’s blocked, and a wide right by Nicholas Arenare. After the Arenare miss, the Drovers came right down and capitalized on a Tiger mistake and got the 1st goal at 5:27. Immediately following the Drovers got a shot, but saved by John Stottlemire, and the Tigers turned the attack and Joel Romero got a great look at goal, which was saved by Drovers goalie Angel Diaz, but the Drovers were able to capitalize and were able to sneak in a 2nd goal. The Tigers countered with a Drew Schrader shot that was blocked, a header attempt at goal by Arenare, saved by Diaz, and the Tigers came out of that scoreless once again. The Drovers were able to capitalize on another Tiger error 1 minute later to get goal number 3. Again, the Tigers were aggressive on the attack and would not go away. Drew Schrader had another goal attempt blocked, and followed by an attempt by Joel Romero, that was blocked as well. The Drovers were able to get 2 shots at goal, both saved by Stottlemire, but again, the Drovers caught the Tigers off guard, and got goal number 4 on the game to send the game 4-0 at the half. The Tigers went shot for shot with the Drovers as the shots on goal were 10-11 in the 1st half.
The Tigers were only able to get 2 more shots at goal in the 2nd half, and the Drovers were able to get an insurance goal at 73:30 to end the scoring. The Tigers fell to the Drovers 5-0.
“The score didn’t show it, but we played well. We made 4 mistakes all game, and USAO took advantage and scored on each one,” said Coach Cody Bartlow following the game.
It is Senior Day at Central Christian this Saturday. The Tigers (5-8-2, 1-5-1) host the Southwestern Christian Eagles (5-4-4, 1-2-4) in a Match with Post-Season hopes and positioning on the line. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm, and can be seen on the SAC Sports Network.
