LINDSBORG, Kan. (BethanySwedes.com) – The Bethany College Men’s Soccer team played against Sterling College for the first conference game of the season
The Swedes got off to a good start by creating some opportunities within the first 15 minutes of the game. However, at the 15th minute mark the Warriors would capitalize on the Swedes struggling to get back on defense and open the scoreboard. The Swedes didn’t give up and were able to score at the 38th minute. A wonderful pass by Tino Sabau to Marcus Toney set up the goal making things level just before halftime.
In the second half, both teams came out looking to get a win and fought hard doing so. The Swedes would have opportunities to score but would not be able to get the ball back into the net a second time. However, the Warriors would score a second goal from a shot that looked like a cross that the wind carried. Regardless of the way it was scored, this goal would change the momentum in favor of the Warriors at the 62nd minute. While the Swedes continued trying to break through, a third goal at the 75th minute made the chances a lot slimmer for the Swedes. The match would end in favor of the Warriors 3-1 thus giving them their first conference win of the season.
