McPHERSON, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) — Goals came in bunches for both sides in the first half, but the Moundbuilders were able to pull away from the Bulldogs in the 2nd to claim a 4-2 win on Saturday (Oct 12) afternoon.
Southwestern started the game off red hot, scoring the first two games of the contest in the fifth and 13th minutes to grab an early 2-0 lead. The Bulldogs responded quickly as Anthony Pereira took advantage of a penalty shot in the 19th minute to make it 2-1. Pereira struck once again in the 26th minute after cashing in on a beautiful centering pass from Nathan Van Wyck to tie it up at 2.
The momentum built up by the Bulldogs would be snuffed out in the 33rd minute when the Moundbuilders retook the lead and cashed in again in the 68th minute to extend the lead to 4-2 and secure the win.
The Bulldogs stay home for their next matchup against Bethany College on Wednesday, October 16. Kickoff is set at 7:30 p.m.
