Men’s Basketball Bulldogs Win Second Straight

WICHITA, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) – The McPherson College Bulldogs won their second straight game Saturday evening (Dec. 14), and handed the Friends University Falcons just their second conference loss of the season, coming away with a 77-69 win at the Garvey Center in Wichita, Kan.

Collin Storr led the Bulldogs with his second straight double-double, finishing with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Tarrance Austin and Curtis Rose each added 11 points and five rebounds apiece, while KJ Marshall rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points and pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds. Marshall also blocked three shots and came away with two steals.

MC finished with 19 offensive rebounds, and scored 12 second chance points. The Bulldogs also scored 23 of their 77 points at the free throw line.

Things were back-and-forth in the early going of the first half as the lead changed nine time over the first nine minutes, until 9-0 burst by the Falcons gave them a 20-14 advantage, their largest of the contest. MC battled back to take a 32-31 lead at the break.

The teams traded baskets to open the second half before a 12-0 run by the Bulldogs that included a pair of and-ones by Storr and Antonio Watson made it a 61-48 lead with six minutes remaining. From there, the Bulldogs maintained control to secure the victory.

KJ Spiller paced the Falcons with 15 points, while Cahlese Lee added 13 points and five assists.

The Bulldogs are back in action Dec. 30 and 31 at the St. Francis Classic in Joliet, Ill. The Bulldogs will take on Saint Xavier on Dec. 30 at 3:00 p.m. then will square off against St. Francis the next day at 1:00 p.m.
