Men’s Basketball Bulldogs Rout York at Home

McPHERSON, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) – The McPherson College Bulldogs exploded in the early part of the first half Tuesday evening (Feb. 11), then cruised to a 97-71 win over the York University Panthers inside Holman Fieldhouse to stay in the hunt for the KCAC postseason tournament.

The Bulldogs opened on a 13-2 run in the games’ first 3:56, forcing a quick Panther timeout. However, MC never slowed from there, scoring 29 of the first 33 points of the contest to grab control early.

Over that stretch, the Bulldogs shot 61.1 percent from the field, and were 5-for-8 from beyond the arc led by two triples apiece from Jamil Hardaway and Dallas Metzger. MC assisted on eight of their first 11 field goal attempts with Collin Storr tallying three.

The Bulldogs cooled a bit after a Panther timeout but finished the first half with a 48-31 lead, thanks to a 41.7 shooting percentage. MC held the Panthers to just 34.3 shooting from the field, despite York connecting on six of its 12 three-point attempts.

Charles Snyder finished the contest with 22 points to lead the Bulldogs in the scoring column, while recording four assists, and coming up one rebound short of a double-double. Tarrance Austin added 16 points, and a team-high six assists, while Hardaway scored 13 points. Dallas Metzger finished with 11 points, and Curtis Rose rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 points while adding six rebounds and four assists.

The Bulldogs finished with a season-high 23 assists on 40 made shots. MC held the Panthers to just 37.1percent shooting from the field, and 34.6 percent from deep. The Bulldogs also forced York into 13 turnovers, leading to 28 points.

MC wraps up the home portion of its schedule Saturday (Feb. 15) for Senior Day against Friends University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

With three games to play in the regular season, the Bulldogs sit alone in seventh place in the KCAC standings and hold a one-game lead over Evangel University.
