WINFIELD, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) — The ninth-ranked Southwestern College Moundbuilders shot 58.8 percent from the field, and were 14-for-28 from the three point line, knocking off the McPherson College Bulldogs 103-68 in Winfield, Kan.
With the loss, the Bulldogs have lost three straight games, and are currently tied for sixth in the KCAC standings with Ottawa University.
MC held its own through the first ten minutes, trailing 18-16 after a basket by Curtis Rose, but the Builders outscored the Bulldogs 30-12 to close the half.
From there it was all Southwestern, outscoring the Bulldogs 55-40 in the second half.
No Bulldog scored in double figures. Owen Braxmeyer and Kamal Kennedy led the way with nine points apiece, while Collin Storr added eight points.
Southwestern outrebounded the Bulldogs 42-29 with an 11-7 advantage on the offensive end. The Bulldogs shot just four free throws for the game, compared to 17 by the Builders.
Cevin Clark led the Builders with 23 points on 8-for-13 shooting, and 4-for-6 from beyond the arc. Damari Gatewood added 14 points, while Justin DeMaria finished with 13 points.
The Bulldogs return to the Sport Center Saturday (Feb. 24) for Senior Night against Tabor College. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
