SALINA, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) — Daniel Marcano’s stellar showing in the ITA regional championships was good enough for him to secure KCAC men’s tennis player of the week honors for the first time in his career, the league announced Monday (Sep 23).

“Daniel had a great tournament on both draws he played in.” head coach Keiran President said. “He has come into this year with a fire and has been working hard both on and off the court. I can’t wait to see what more he can accomplish this season!”

The senior from Venezuela powered his way to the semi-finals of the singles bracket where he fell to the eventual champion and top-seeded player Zinovii Nahirniak of William Woods University. Marcano also reached the semi-finals in the doubles bracket as he and Oscar Brouwer came up just short against Nahirniak and his partner, Noah Burton.

“If this weekend is not an indication of how much he wants to make a difference this season, I don’t know what is.”

This marks the second consecutive Bulldog to earn KCAC men’s tennis player of the week as Marcano joins Arthur Nardy, who was last week’s recipient.

Marcano joins the rest of the Bulldogs in action this weekend for the KCAC fall invitational in North Newton, Kan.
