BELTON, Mo. (MacBulldogs.com) – It was a history making weekend for the Bulldogs as they claimed a tournament victory for the first time in program history in the Eagle Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 25) and claimed a top three finish in the Sunday (Jan. 26) tournament in Belton.
In the first tournament of the weekend, the Bulldogs nearly led it from beginning to end. MC ended the first of their five team games on top with a pinfall of 895, giving them first place. The Bulldogs did surrender the lead after the second game, but reclaimed it in the third game and never surrendered it, finishing the day with a total pinfall of 4,357 and a victory.
In tournament two of the weekend, the Bulldogs participated in competed in 25 baker games and ended the day in third place with a total pinfall of 4,210. The Bulldogs finished just behind Missouri Baptist, who finished in second place with a pinfall of 4,284.
Veronyca West, who made the All-Tournament Team, finished as the second highest scorer in the entire tournament with a five-game total of 945 for an average of 189 per game. MC had a total of eight bowlers finish in the top 40 as Marissa Bogholtz (7th), Kayla Wood (10th), Kaycee Carter (12th), Jasmine Bridges (24th), Monica Pollock (31st), and Olivia Oliver (40th) all put in great efforts. On the JV side, Alyssa Porcelli made the all-tournament team, finishing third overall with an average of 187.8 for five games and a total pinfall of 939.
The Bulldogs will return to the lanes in Lawrence as they take on the NAIA West Weekend. Day one will start on Saturday, February 1 with a start time set for 9:15 a.m. with day two starting at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday, February 2.
