BOX SCORE

McPHERSON, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) – The Bulldogs came out of the gates strong and made a very early statement that they were not to be underestimated as they held the top scoring offense in the KCAC to just 27% shooting from the field and forced the Coyotes into several mistakes as they ended the first quarter on top, 15-10.

Kansas Wesleyan quickly shook off a rocky first quarter and put together a second quarter much closer to the standard they have set this season, cashing in on 53% of their shots while also holding the Bulldogs to just a 25% clip from the field. The strong quarter to end the half gave the Coyotes a 32-26 lead heading into the halftime break.

It was a near dead even third quarter as both the Bulldogs and the Coyotes played strong defense and held the opposing offenses to under 40% field goal percentages. It was a slim three point lead for KWU as they ended the third quarter out in front, 45-42. The fourth and final quarter was all Coyotes as they held McPherson to just 31% from the field to secure a 65-50 victory as the Bulldogs fall to 0-17 on the season and 0-11 in KCAC play.

Gillian Rodgers led the way for MC as she scored eight points and pulled down four rebounds. Lauren Young and Raeghan Borman both chipped in six points while Hannah Cooley scored five.

MC will remain home as they take on Avila University on Saturday, January 18 for the second game of a three game homestand. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 P.M.
