WICHITA, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) — For the first time in her short career, redshirt freshman Celestina Retumban has been named KCAC Defender of the Week, the league announced Monday (Oct 7).
“The growth I’ve seen from Cel has been exceptional this season,” head coach Cory Cahill said. “I am excited to watch her continue to grow on and off the court the next four years.”
Retumban, a native of Ridgeland, Miss., averaged 5.50 digs per set to help the Bulldogs finish 2-0 last week. She also had 25 serve receptions with no errors, and added five service aces.
Her week got started with a 21-dig performance in the Bulldogs sweep over Sterling, then followed with 12 digs in the win over Friends. Retumban had four of her five aces in the match against the Falcons.
Retumban and the Bulldogs will be back for a busy week, starting Wednesday against Bethel College inside the Sport Center. MC will then travel to St. Louis for three matches this weekend.
