WICHITA, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) — Following a 4-0 week by the Bulldogs, Brooke McHale has been named KCAC Attacker of the Week and Enya Fierens earned KCAC Defender of the Week, the league announced Monday (Oct. 14).
“After a great week of volleyball, I am excited that Enya and Brook were able to be recognized for their contributions,” head coach Cory Cahill said. “Our team as a whole as exceeded expectations and allowed them to shine. Proud of them both and our group as a whole.”
McHale, a native of Plano, Texas, was excellent for the Bulldogs, averaging 3.00 kills per set and finishing with a .314 attacking percentage. She got her week started with a 13-kill performance in the Bulldogs 3-1 win over Bethel College. McHale then had 12 kills against Faulkner before adding 16 kills in the 3-1 win over (RV) Missouri Baptist.
Not only was she stellar on the offensive side, but McHale also finished the week with 2.88 digs per set, eight total blocks, and five service aces.
Fierens is no stranger to the KCAC weekly honors, securing her second Defender of the Week nod of the season.
The Lubbeek, Belgium native was a brick wall at the net for the Bulldogs this week, finishing with 17 total blocks, including 15 blocking assists and a pair of solo blocks. Fierens recorded eight total blocks in the Bulldogs 3-1 win over Bethel College, then added five blocks against Faulkner. Fierens kept it going with three blocks in the 3-2 win over (RV) Missouri Baptist.
McHale, Fierens, and the Bulldogs kick off a busy week tonight as they travel to Winfield, Kan. to take on Southwestern. MC will be in action again Wednesday (Oct. 16) against Bethany in Lindsborg, before returning home for a matchup against Evangel Saturday night.
