WINFIELD, Kan. – The Middle School Girls Tennis team competed Tuesday at the Patriot League tournament in Winfield, placing first with an overall team score of 177. Wellington placed second with a score of 135.
Quinn Liebl (3-0) finished first in #1 Singles, while Audra Sandbo (3-0) placed first in #2 singles and Kamryn Prescott (3-0) was first in #3 singles. Azul Palacios (1-1) placed second in #4 singles.
#1 doubles was won by Lleyton Kuhn and Mayson Wiens at 3-0, while Maddie Ekholm and Emily Reno finished first in #2 Doubles at 3-0. #3 Doubles was won by Hayden Eveland and Nirmitha PremAnanth and #4 Doubles was won by Liz Britting and Stephanie Fonseca-Gonzalez.
“This group of girls is very special both on and off the court.” said head coach Paul Reichenberger. “Coach Weiner and I couldn’t be more proud of all they have accomplished.”
Golf
The McPherson High Girls Golf Team placed third overall in the AVCTL Div 3-4 Tournament at Hidden Lakes in Derby on Tuesday. The team wound up with an overall score of 382.
Brodie Kuhn led the McPherson squad with a score of 85 and earned first-team all-league honors, while Reese Elliot (97), Andi Buschbom (99), Macy Rinker (101), and Olivia Cheatham (101) rounded out the team with second-team all-league honors.
“Our team struggled a bit yesterday, but I was proud of the way we competed.” head coach Treg Fawl said. “We are in the mix heading into postseason play.”
The Bullpups travel to Wamego for 4A Regionals on Monday.
Soccer
The Bullpup Boys Soccer team competed on Tuesday against Mulvane and picked up a 6-0 win over the Wildcats. Hayden Hoxie led the team with 3 goals while Leland Hept (2) and Ervin Jose Fransisco (1) rounded out scoring for the Bullpups. Hayden Hoxie also led the team with Assists at 2.
McPherson had 18 shots on goal compared to 2 for Mulvane.
On Thursday, the Bullpups were back on the pitch, this time earning a 4-1 victory over Junction City. Borin Heang, Dayveon Crawford, Hayden Hoxie and Hunter Mendez each contributed goals, with assists by Joran Antoine and Alex Burbacker.
Volleyball
The Bullpup Volleyball team competed Tuesday at the Clearwater Triangular going 1-1 against Clearwater and Rose Hill. Jaela Thompson led the team with 16 Kills, while Addison Chapman finished with 5 Aces, Brooke Doile collected 18 Digs, and Ava Romero and Alex Romero led the team in Blocks and Assists respectively.

McPherson hosts its Volleyball Invitational on Saturday with competition beginning at 8 a.m. Eight school will compete, including Bishop Carroll, Garden Plain, Nickerson, Goddard, Garden City, Wichita Heights, and Salina South.
