McPherson Native & Tabor WBB Star Kassidy Beam Smashes School’s Three-Point Record

HILLSBORO, Kan. (TaborBluejays.com) – It takes a lot to impress Head Women’s Basketball Coach Shawn Reed. Throughout his time at Tabor, Reed has seen more than his fair share of All Americans, All Conference selections, KCAC titles, and NAIA National Tournament berths, but it has been less often that he has seen the same record broken twice in his career.

Taylor Deniston set the all-time career three-point record during her Senior season in 2018-19 with 172 made threes, almost a full 10 years after Kirsten Watson claimed the record during the 2008-09 campaign with 162 made threes.

On a whim from one of his assistants, Reed was inspired to check the record book to see how close Kassidy Beam was to becoming the new career leader. Further research showed that Beam had in-fact taken the top spot, achieving that milestone in the first half of the 2024-25 season.

Kassidy Beam came to Hillsboro in 2021 after a standout high school career at nearby McPherson High School in McPherson, Kan. and has played three and a half seasons so far in a TC jersey, dazzling fans with her signature three-point shot.

Beam has excelled on the floor, serving as one of the veteran leaders on this Bluejay squad and looks to be the first in program history to achieve 200 career made threes with about half a season left to play.

Off the floor, Beam has excelled in the classroom, having graduated in Spring of 2024 after three years of undergraduate coursework. Following graduation, she enrolled in Tabor’s Master of Business Administration program and was hired as a Sports Information/Game Operations Graduate Assistant where she has excelled in writing articles, public address announcing, helping build record books, and scheduling workers for athletic department events.

Beam and the Lady Bluejays return to the floor on Saturday as they take on the University of Saint Mary at 5pm.
