KANSAS CITY, Mo. (PittStateGorillas.com) – Senior guard Grace Pyle was named the MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday (Mar. 3).
Pyle earned the weekly award after averaging 26.5 points, 4.0 made three-pointers, 3.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game as the Gorillas claimed their fourth MIAA regular season title in program history.
Against Central Missouri (Mar. 1) in the season finale, Pyle on Senior Day finished with 29 points, five rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals while shooting 4-of-9 from behind the arc and converting on all seven of her free throws.
This season the McPherson, Kan., native is averaging 15.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists a game while shooting .381 from three (75-of-197).
In MIAA regular season ranks she finished second in assist-turnover ratio (2.26) and three pointers made per game (2.6), fourth in three point percentage, seventh in scoring and field goal percentage among qualified shooters (.465), and ninth in assists per game.
Pyle and the Gorillas will be in action at the MIAA Tournament in Kansas City, Mo., against either Northwest Missouri or Missouri Southern at 6:00 p.m. (CST) Thursday (Mar. 6) at historic Municipal Auditorium.
