TOPEKA, Kan. – 5-1A Regional Bowling took place in Topeka on Tuesday, and McPherson High found themselves up against stiff competition, as only the top ten individuals, and top three teams would qualify to move on to the State Tournament out of 15 competing schools. Of those ten competitors to qualify was McPherson’s Logan Jackson, who finished 7th with a score of 653.
Alex Wheat finished in the top half for the Bullpup Boys out of 90 competitors, finishing with a score of 532, and as a team the Pups would finish 12th with a score of 2775. For the MHS Girls, Emma Shandy and Brooke Henry would finish 56th and 57th with scores of 386 and 383, while Isabelle Shandy was just a few points back with a score of 372. As a team the Pups were 75 pins from Highland Park, who finished 14th.
As the lone state qualifier for the McPherson, Logan Jackson will compete next Thursday, March 2, at North Rock Lanes in Wichita. The boys’ introduction will start at 1:10 p.m.
