McPHERSON, Kan. – The McPherson High School girls basketball team faced off against AVCTL Division 4 opponent Andale winning 66-46, despite first-half struggles.
After a high-scoring first quarter leading 20-11, they were outscored in the 2nd quarter, leaving the Bullpups to lead by only four points at halftime. However, the Bullpups pushed forward in the 3rd quarter, outscoring Andale 39-23 in the second half.
Freshman Jaela Thompson had another big game after having 17 points in each of the last two games vs. Augusta and Mulvane. Thompson finished with a season-high 21 points, 10 rebounds and 8 steals.
Jayla McLeod added 14 points, Karter Alvord finished with 12, and Reanna Eilrich finished with 9 points.
The Bullpups are now 7-2 on the season. They will have a week off before playing in the Mid-America Classic Jan. 25-27. Their first round game will be against Clearwater Thursday, Jan. 25 at 7:45 p.m. The game will be broadcast on 98.9/1540 KMCP.
