HESSTON, Kan. – After the Newton Invitational was canceled due to inclement weather nearly a week prior, the McPherson High School Track & Field Teams were finally able to compete in Hesston Thursday, May 2. Only part of the team competed Thursday as the Bullpups have another meet Friday, May 3 in Wamego.
Cory Muehler was named the Most Outstanding Male Athlete of the meet after winning 110M Hurdles and the 300M Hurdles as well as finishing 2nd in the Triple Jump. Caleb Muehler won the 1600M Run and MHS finished in the top two in the 800M Run with Ethan Elder winning and Kayden Friesen finishing 2nd.
The girls team only won one event, but finished in the top three in multiple others. They won the 4x400M Relay and finished 2nd in the 4x100M Relay. Peyton Bonham finished 2nd in the 200M Dash, Mallory Holmes placed 2nd in the 100M Hurdles, and Addison Chapman finished 3rd in the 100M Dash. Hunter Wilson finished 2nd in the Shot Put and Mallory Holmes place 2nd in the Triple Jump.
“It was the first time in over a week that the Bullpups were able to take the track and the field due to the cancellation of the last two weeks,” head coach John Montgomery said. “Our athletes really took advantage of the opportunity and posted some great marks!”

The Bullpups have the Wamego meet Friday, May 3 to end the regular season before the AVCTL meet at McPherson High School Thursday, May 9.
