BUHLER, Kan. – The McPherson Bullpup basketball teams squared off for their first matchup against Buhler of the season, with both the girls and boys earning wins over the Crusaders.
GIRLS: McPherson 48, Buhler 37
The McPherson girls started strong in the early going over Buhler, leading by double digits at halftime en route to their 48-37 win, bouncing back from their loss to Andover last Friday.
Karter Alvord led with 20 points, marking her third 20+ point performance this season in just four games. Jayla McLeod finished with 9 points. Jaela Thompson had 7, Madi Moors had 5, Reanna Eilrich added 4 and Ellie Bower finished with 3.
BOYS: McPherson 82, Buhler 34
The Bullpup boys started off hot and did not look back, putting up 30 points in the first quarter alone, capped off by a Kyden Thompson layup at the buzzer. 30 of the team’s 48 points in the first half were scored by either Thompson or Cory Muehler.
Muehler finished with 24 points, 21 of which coming in the first half. Owen Pyle finished with a season-high 16 points, all of which were scored in the 3rd quarter. Thompson and Gabe Pyle each finished with 11. Jett Pyle had 6, Gavin Wedel, Ian Razak and Paxton Ingels each added 4. Jayce Shriner had two points.
