OKLAHOMA CITY (SCWarriors.com) – SC Volleyball took to the court once again looking to squash a four-game losing streak. They traveled to Oklahoma City to take on Mid-America Christian University (MACU) for a non-conference, NCCAA matchup. These two teams historically have matched up well and this was another close match. Led by Aliya McClanahan‘s defense, the Warriors took down the Evangels in four sets, 23-25,25-14,25-23,25-23.

On a night where the kills were evenly distributed amongst the front row, McClanahan led the team with 11 kills and a .357 hitting percentage. What made McClanahan stand out were her 13 block assists, the best single-game performance by a Warrior since the 1999 season, and second-best since records have been kept. Three Warriors, Chloe SchmidtKodie Herd, and Morgan Pellegrino, had 8 kills apiece. In the back row, Nyah Isom and Makenna Linden both had 14 digs. As a team, Sterling had 36 block assists, totaling 18 blocks in the match, the most in any match this season.

The Warriors climb to 8-4 this season and look to continue playing at a high level heading into the conference season. Sterling will play one more nonconference match against NCCAA opponent, Mission University, next Wednesday, September 18th, at 3 pm in the Gleason Center in Sterling.
