BASEBALL

The baseball team is off to a tremendous start, sweeping their first three opponents to start with a 6-0 record.

The team started March 25 at home against Ell-Saline, getting a 17-1 win in four innings, despite getting only seven base hits. However, they drew 10 walks, were hit by three pitches, stole 10 bases, and reached on five errors. They kept it rolling in game two with a 9-3 win. The game was tied after three innings, but the Redskins scored seven combined runs in the fourth and fifth innings to run away with the win.

Following the sweep of the Cardinals, Little River took their first road trip against Inman. Little River handled the Teutons mightily in game one, winning 8-1 off of stellar pitching performances. Game two saw the same with a 6-3 victory, thanks to 10 strikeouts by Ad Astra Radio’s Athlete of the Week Logan Renken.

The hot start continued on April 1, defeating Canton-Galva in both games 15-0 in four innings. They will look to continue their amazing start to the season Friday, April 4 at Hutchinson-Trinity Catholic.

SOFTBALL

Little River Softball struggled in their first two doubleheaders, but turned it around against Canton-Galva to start 2-4 on the season.

Their first doubleheader against Ell-Saline was defined by one word: offense. Little River fell in game one 12-8 against the Cardinals, but game two finished as one of the highest scoring games you’ll see as Little River fell 35-21. That game did feature only 26 combined hits and 17 combined errors however.

Little River could not turn it around against a terrific Inman squad, falling in game one 13-0 and game two 16-1. However, they got their groove Tuesday, April 1 against Canton-Galva, winning 19-11 in game one and 18-7 in game two.

They’ll look to keep the momentum moving Friday, April 4 against Hutchinson-Trinity Catholic.

POWERLIFTING

Little River boys and girls powerlifters went to Solomon High School Saturday, March 29 for the Solomon Gorilla Powerlifting Meet.

The girls team finished 2nd overall out of seven schools, finishing just six points behind Central Plains. The boys finished 2nd as well, but out of 13 schools. Wakefield took the boys team title by just 12 points.
