Linden Leads in Back Row, Volleyball Warriors Lose to Falcons

WICHITA, Kan. (SCWarriors.com) – Sterling native Makenna Linden held down the back row for the Lady Warriors, but it was not enough as the Friends University Falcons beat the Lady Warriors in straight sets. Sterling had a slow start out of the gate and dug a hole they could not recover from. The scores for each set were 25-15, 25-16, 25-14.

Linden carried the weight in the back row in the Libero position with 23 of the team’s 48 digs. Aubrey Young added 28 assists to her season total. Sterling’s middle hitters were the top producers in the front row. Aliya McClanahan paced Sterling with 8 kills and Chloe Schmidt had seven kills hitting .308.

The Lady Warriors have their conference bye on Wednesday and return to action on Saturday at home. They will be hosting a tri with a conference match against Southwestern at 11 am, and a nonconference game against Haskell at 4 pm. The other two teams will play each other in between the Sterling matches. Sterling will also be celebrating Senior Day.

Sterling is now 10-10 (1-6) this season.
