Lady Warriors Overwhelm McPherson in Dominant Victory

McPHERSON, Kan. (SCWarriors.com) – On Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the Holman Fieldhouse, the Sterling College Lady Warriors showcased an overwhelming performance against the McPherson College Lady Bulldogs, ending with a decisive victory of 99-51.

From the outset, the Lady Warriors took control of the game, concluding the first half with a commanding lead of 48-26. This intensity was sustained in the second half, leading to their triumph with nearly double the points of their opponents by the final whistle. Korynn Clason emerged as the top scorer for Sterling College with an impressive 19 points, followed by Alissa Heskamp with 17 points, Kali Briar contributing 12 points and Trinity Lutters with 10.

The team’s strategy to capitalize on turnovers proved particularly effective, with Sterling scoring 35 points off the Lady Bulldogs’ 23 turnovers. Not only did they showcase their offensive prowess, but the Lady Warriors also dominated defensively, outrebounding McPherson 41 to 21. Contributions were widespread across the team, with significant points coming from the bench, totaling 44 points.

McKenna Vogl led the Lady Warriors in rebounds with seven, followed by Kayla Morris with six and Heskamp with five. Karlee Jacobs led Sterling in assists and steals with five and three, respectively.

With this victory, Sterling improves their season record to 8-5 in conference play and 12-7 overall. Looking ahead, the Lady Warriors will face the Evangel Valor ( at the Gleason Center in Sterling, Kan., on Saturday, Jan. 25. This next game will provide another platform to extend their winning strategies and the current momentum.
