HUTCHINSON, Kan. (BlueDragonSports.com) – Through six weeks of the regular season, the Hutchinson Community College women’s basketball team remains were it started the 2024-25 season … at No. 1.
The Blue Dragons completed a 13-0 run through the first semester after defeating Cloud County 77-53 on Saturday. Earlier in the week, the Dragons rallied to defeat Garden City 45-44.
Receiving all 12 first-place votes in the final poll of the first semester, the Blue Dragons are 13-0 overall and 7-0 in the KJCCC. The victory over Cloud County was their 50th consecutive overall win and 35th-straight KJCCC victory.
The Blue Dragons have been ranked No. 1 in 12-consecutive polls and have appeared in 21 consecutive polls overall.
There are two Jayhawk Conference teams residing in the Top five once again. Dodge City has moved up to No. 4 after College of Southern Idaho suffered a loss last week.
The Top 5 has Hutchinson, Northwest Florida State, New Mexico Junior College, Dodge City and Wabash Valley.
No other KJCCC team is in the Top 25, but Butler is receiving votes.
There are five teams remaining in this week’s Top 25 … No. 1 Hutchinson (13-0), No. 2 Northwest Florida State (13-0), No. 13 New Mexico JC (14-0), No. 10 McLennan (10-0) and No. 11 Chipola (12-0).
The Blue Dragons return for the second semester on Saturday, January 4 against Cowley in a 2 p.m. game at the Sports Arena.
