LAWRENCE, Kan. (KUAthletics.com) – Kansas senior wide receiver Quentin Skinner has been named the Walk-On of the Week for week six of the college football season. The award was announced Tuesday by the Burlsworth Trophy.

Each week during the regular season, the Burlsworth Trophy will select a Walk-On of the Week to recognize a player that began their career as a walk-on. The Brandon Burlsworth Foundation will announce the 2024 finalists for the Burlsworth Trophy on November 19. Nominees for the annual award are nominated by their respective universities. The winner will be announced on December 9th in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Skinner walked on at Kansas prior to the 2020 season and has since appeared in 43 games for the Jayhawks. He had the best statistical game of his career on Saturday night at Arizona State, recording career-highs with six receptions and 130 receiving yards, while hauling in two touchdowns in a game for the third time in his career. Skinner caught touchdowns of 30 and 34 yards and recorded the first 100-yard receiving game of his collegiate career.

The Burlsworth Trophy is named in honor of Brandon Burlsworth. Without one D1 scholarship offer, Brandon walked on to the Arkansas Razorback team in 1994, worked his way to being a three-year starter and was eventually named an All-American in 1998. Burlsworth was selected as the 63rd overall pick by the Indianapolis Colts in the 1999 NFL Draft, but was tragically killed in a car accident 11 days later. The Burlsworth Foundation was created in his memory and supports the physical and spiritual needs of children, in particular those children who have limited opportunities.
