LAWRENCE, Kan. (KUAthletics.com) – Sophomore Dominic Voegele has been named a Second Team Freshman All-American by Perfect Game, the organization announced on Tuesday. Voegele is the first Jayhawk in program history to receive a Preseason All-American nod from Perfect Game.

Voegele will highlight the 2025 pitching staff after a stellar rookie campaign where he went 7-2 with a 3.89 ERA in 81.0 innings pitched. The Columbia, Illinois, native started every weekend, tossing eight quality starts and recording 80 strikeouts compared to only 29 walks.

Voegele received a long list of accolades in his first season at Kansas that included freshman All-American by four different outlets, Big 12 Freshman of the Year, All-Big 12 Second Team, a Big 12 All-Freshman Team honoree and a spot on the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.

He finished the regular season tied for third in the Big 12 in wins (7), tied for fifth in ERA (3.32), seventh in opponent batting average (.228) and tied for seventh in innings pitched (76.0). His seven wins were the most by a KU freshman pitcher since 1993 and the second most in the country among Power Five freshmen.

Voegele is only the fourth Kansas player in program history to earn a spot on a preseason All-America team. Jonah Ulane (2022), Tony Thompson (2010) and Ryan Baty (2004) are the other Jayhawks that were named preseason All-Americans.
