HESSTON, Kan. (HCLarks.com) – The Hesston College women’s soccer team started their season off right with a 3-0 win over Manhattan Christian College on Saturday, August 24 in a contest that was cut short after 70 minutes. The Larks managed to control the pace of the match while keeping the ball on the visitor’s half for most of the contest. The Larks took 21 total shots in the match placing 13 of them on target.
The Larks first score came early in the contest as freshman Kristyn Oliver dribbled into the box from midfield and buried a shot in the 12th minute. Trinity Garcia netted the second Lark goal in the 51st minute off of a cross from Lissette Tovar. Sophomore Fey Castillo added her name to the list of scorers shortly after chipping a shot past the keeper in the 54th minute.
Garcia led the Larks with four shots on target followed by Oliver and Rena Itoga. With this victory, the Larks start off the season 1-0 for the second season in a row.
The Larks will be back in action on August 29th as they take a short trip to North Newton to take on the Bethel College reserves at 6 p.m.
