Four Cougars Wrestlers Produce Multiple Victories at the NJCAA Coaches’ Duals

MIAMI, Okla. (BartonSports.com) – The shorthanded Barton Community College wrestling team left the NJCAA Coaches Duals empty handed over the two-day event held inside the Student Activity Center in Miami, Oklahoma.

Open at two weight classes throughout the course of the event, the Cougars would drop all six matches with four of the losses coming to nationally ranked opponents, falling to No. 4 Iowa Central Community College (48-0), Big Bend Community College (29-25), No. 15 Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (53-0), No. 21 Northeastern Junior College (29-24), No. 13 Labette Community College (40-15) and Cowley College (50-6).

Highlighting the Cougar lineup over the weekend was the pair of victories from Jamal Garrett (125-division), Joshua “AJ” Almanza (133-division), Jarret Mader (141-division), and Derek Truman (174-division).

Mixing the lineup up over the six duals, Skyler McMullen (141-division), Colin Little (149-division), Nathan Agudzi-Addo (285-division), and Logan Buchanan (285-division) also fashioned a victory each.

Now 2-10 on the season in dual play, the Cougars will set their eyes on Thursday’s home and conference opener against Cowley and Neosho County Community College with action scheduled to get underway from the Barton Gym at 4:30 p.m.
